Hey guys, in addition to the presidential election and Senate elections, etc being voted on today, my goddamned state is trying to pass three of the most ridiculous amendments I’ve ever seen.
The first one, Amendment 1, would allow Florida to nullify Obamacare. That’s not really news because other states are trying to do it. I mean, I know we settled the whole nullification debate in like…the 1830s, but whatever!
The second one, Amendment 6, has drawn the most fire, because it limits access to abortions. Women’s rights etc etc etc blah blah Republicans don’t care lol. There’s a big campaign to vote no because this is fucking atrocious, but it’s been played out before.
The most ridiculous one, in my eyes, is Amendment 8. I hadn’t heard about it till I got my absentee ballot. Here was my thought process:
“Ok, the title of it is ‘Religious Freedom’. Sounds good, let me read it.”
“Ok, the first line reaffirms the first amendment in the Bill of Rights, sounds cool.”
“Wait, am I reading this right? This amendment would allow funding for religious institutions by the government. That can’t be right. *Googles* Holy fuck what the fuck. How the fuck. This is the first fucking amendment what even. Jesus Christ they even STATE THE FIRST AMENDMENT AND THEN PROCEDE TO DESTROY IT WHAT THE CHRIST.”
So yeah, vote no on these.
- 90 percent of the country in the summer: Lovely, warm, beautiful weather, with children outside swimming and adults barbecuing in the backyard.
- Florida in the summer: Oh my God I just walked outside and I'm fucking melting and I can feel the air because it's so humid and HOLY FUCK NOW IT'S POURING.
Pretty sure I saw a sign at the Gator basketball sign that said “If you mess with the Will, Yeguette the horns!”
